Global Emergency Response Intern (f/m)

(Limited Contract 9 months, 38.5h/week)

 

Location: Innsbruck or Vienna / Austria

 

Mission

In recent years, SOS CV has been increasingly engaged in emergency preparedness and response activities to protect children from abuse, neglect and exploitation and minimize the negative effects that natural disaster and war could have on children and their families. The Global Emergency Response unit (GER) drives and manages the emergency preparedness and response activities of SOS CVI and supports member associations to fulfil the urgent humanitarian needs of children.

 

In this context, we are looking for an enthusiastic Intern for Global Emergency Response to support the department with the following tasks:

 

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Provide logistical and administrative support to set-up and implement the emergency response network and expert group
  • Support in organizing information sharing meetings in relation to emergency response programs (e.g. setting up Humanitarian Appeal debriefing meetings and follow-up)
  • Support the team in developing and implementing internal standards and guidelines including roll-out of Emergency Response Handbook
  • Assist with back up support for different ER key processes such as CHS (Core Humanitarian Standards) and ECHO improvement plans or certification (e.g. setting up meetings with other departments, agenda follow-up communication, research and data administration)
  • Be the focal point in GER for data collection, information consolidation, up-date of related sites and provide support to GER knowledge management related activities
  • Support in roll-out, training and helpdesk function of the program management system ProDIGI
  • Support the emergency preparedness process including conducting a baseline survey

 

Requirements

  • Development studies, international relations, business administration or other related field
  • Expert knowledge in MS Office; sound knowledge of Sharepoint (setting-up / editing related workspaces) is an advantage
  • Experience in administrative support
  • Strong organizational and team working skills
  • Proactive working style and able to work independently
  • Excellent knowledge of English (oral/written)
  • A valid Austrian working permit or eligibility to work within the EU
  • Willingness to work from an Austrian work location (Innsbruck or Vienna)
