UNV Multimedia Development Associate

Eligibility criteria

Minimum age: 22 years old. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.

Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Regional Chief of Communication or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Multimedia Development Associate will:

  • Conceptualize and create high quality designs to help advance UNICEF South Asia’s brand strategy, graphics, and collateral across digital channels.
  • Create visually engaging assets for social media channels.
  • Conceptualize and develop videos, graphics and infographics to communicate the situation of children in South Asia
  • Develop creative work of the highest caliber, provide quality control over concepts and projects, contribute creative solutions and innovations that strengthen the UNICEF brand in the region.
  • Carry out ad-hoc graphic design related work as instructed by the supervisor.
  • Carry out ad-hoc video editing as instructed by the supervisor.
  • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities:

  • Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day);
  • Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country;
  • Provide annual and end of assignment self-reports on UN Volunteer actions, results and opportunities.
  • Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.;
  • Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers;
  • Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.

Required Experience: 2 years

  1. Education, qualifications, skills, experience, areas of expertise:
  • Masters or Bachelor’s degree in multimedia, graphic design, video editing or a similar discipline;
  • At least two years for Masters degree or four years for Bachelors degree of professional work experience at the national and/or international level in the areas of graphic design and video editing;
  • Knowledge in concept and creation of specific graphic design assets, including infographics, data visualization, animation/video graphics, and interactive presentations;
  • Ability to conceptualize unique ideas for video and motion graphics projects and advertising campaigns;
  • Visual design sense that is clean, simple, and sharp, with ability to edit as needed;
  • Excellent IT skills, especially with design and photo-editing software (professional knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign or equivalent software);
  • Good research and analytical skills;
  • A keen and proven interest/knowledge in social media;
  • Experience in working in the UN or other international development organizations is desirable;
  • Previous experience working with UNICEF and familiarity with UNICEF’s new brand, design and style guidelines is an asset;
  • Excellent oral and written English language skills;
  • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging and multicultural environment
  • Ability to respond to short deadlines and demonstrate a quick turn-around and execution of creative work;
  • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;
  • Have affinity with or interest in child rights, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.
