ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

This job is based in WFP Afghanistan warehouses located in Kabul. Job holder report to the Warehouse Associate or the designate. Job holder is exposed to all phases of the warehouse operations and work with minimum supervision. 

JOB PURPOSE

To support receipt/dispatch and verification of commodities in order to maximise quality of warehouse operations and mitigate losses, and to support the best storage management practices in compliance with WFP warehouse guidelines and standards.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

•    Support receipt/dispatch commodities including transhipment (truck to truck) against official approved documentation (e.g. waybills and/or delivery notes) ensuring accuracy in physical count of commodities including the quality in compliance with the established standards.
•    Ensure that all goods received are carefully counted and registered, any differences in quantity/quality are recorded on the documents and system (Wings) properly. 
•    Prepare and verify warehouse and transport documents, and maintain confidential files and accurate warehouse transaction records, to ensure immediate reporting on commodity movements in line with the corporate requirements.
•    Support daily warehouse closing reconciliation and accurate inventory checks in compliance with the warehouse management requirements.
•    Perform daily inspections and prepare reports on the quantity and quality of the commodities received/dispatched and handled, and refer to the supervisor for appropriate action.
•    Support implementation of appropriate measures to safeguard food and non-food commodities to ensure quality control using standard preventive measures in line with WFP established procedures and authorization received from the supervisor.
•    Monitor condition of the warehouse and commodities and take appropriate actions to support efficient warehouse space-utilization and well-organized commodity storage following WFP warehouse standards.
•    Share experiences gained with other staff members and strive towards creating good team building and harmonious atmosphere.
•    Perform any other duties as requested by immediate Supervisor.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary education in Supply Chain/Logistics is desirable.

Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of experience as Storekeeper in a warehouse of food items.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to carry out day to day activities around warehouse and inventory management including inventory system (stock management).
  • Good working knowledge with the complete Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience in managing warehouses with food items.

Language: Fluency (level C) in English language plus Pashto and/or Dari, preferably both.

 

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Position Title: Assistant Storekeeper (Warehouse)

Grade: General Service- Level 3  (GS3)

Contract: Fixed-Term (FT) - One-year renewable

Duty Station/travel: Kabul, Afghanistan with travel inside Afghanistan

Salary: Competitive remuneration package

Medical Plan: International valid medical plan valid also for staff, spouse and dependents children under 18 years

Annual leave: 30 working days per annum
