Eligibility criteria

Minimum age: 22 years old. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.

Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Carmen Alpin, the UNV Knowledge Management and Research will:

• Support the implementation of the knowledge management and research agenda and the key activities to be implemented within this remit;

• Support planning and following-up the implementation of mobile and face-to-face data collection activities;

• Undertake field visits to assist in research related capacity building activities with interviewers and Institute of National Statistics staff;

• Assist in analyzing research data from different stakeholders, supporting report-writing of knowledge products, and research dissemination;

• Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications/Requirements Required degree level: Bachelor degree or equivalent Education - Additional Comments:

Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences or area related to Statistics, International Development, Research Methods or other relevant programmes;

Required experience: 24 Months Experience remark:

At least 2 years of professional work experience at the national and/or international level in research, knowledge management or other relevant programmes; experience with quantitative and qualitative data analyses is an asset, as is experience working in the UN or other international development organization

Language skills:
  • Portuguese(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
  • English(Optional), Level - Working Knowledge
Area of expertise: Knowledge management, archiving and documentation, Public information and reporting Area of expertise details:

Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting and reporting skills; • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment; experience with data analysis software is an asset, as is experience with mobile data collection software;

• Accuracy and attention to detail in document production and editing; • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development;

• Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel;

• Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;

• Sound security awareness;

Have affinity with or interest in UNICEF’s mandate and volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.
