Eligibility criteria

Minimum age: 25 years old. Nationals of the country of assignment are not eligible, except the assignments in Headquarters duty stations.

Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Reports and Knowledge Management Specialist or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer will:

  • Help programme officers conceptualize project proposals and coordinate with other partners, including other UN agencies, and reviews project proposals to ensure that they meet the donor’s expectations as well as UNICEF quality standards, and are submitted in a timely fashion.
  • Support the development and implementation of the Country Office’s resource mobilization strategy and related tools, and advises on opportunities for interactions with donors and other stakeholders, including local volunteer organizations.
  • Ensure timely submission of quality donor reports through updating and sharing the reports planning table, reviewing reports to ensure that they meet UNICEF quality standards, including coherence between financial and narrative information and contractual agreements, and providing overall guidance and capacity strengthening to programme section staff in charge of report writing.
  • Perform other duties related to resource mobilization and partnerships, as needed.

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities:

  • Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day);
  • Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country;
  • Provide annual and end of assignment self- reports on UN Volunteer actions, results and opportunities.
  • Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.;
  • Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers;
  • Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering, or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.
Qualifications/Requirements Required degree level: Bachelor degree or equivalent Education - Additional Comments:

· A first-level university degree in international development, public affairs, international relations, political science, communication or other related fields.

Required experience: 24 Months Experience remark:
  • At least two years of professional experience in external relations, communications, project development, reporting and/or any resource-mobilization related activities.

  • Prior international development or humanitarian experience desirable.

  • Strong writing and editing skills in English and French.

  • Strong analytical and logical thinking.

  • Ability to work under pressure.

Language skills:
  • French(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
