Eligibility criteria

Minimum age: 22 years old. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.

Description of task

Under the direct supervision of the Portfolio Analyst for Inclusive Growth, the UN Volunteer Youth Entrepreneurship Coordinator will undertake the following functions:

  1. Prepare and implement the UNDP GrEYAP Project activity plans and budgets and ensure that the programmatic, procurement and financial reporting follows UNDP guidelines;
  2. Organise and participate in GrEYAP capacity building programmes (training workshops, technical assistance) for key national and county level staff, youth organizations and MSEs that mainstream re-afforestation, entrepreneurship, innovation, and human rights-based approaches to youth empowerment
  3. In consultation with the Portfolio Analysts for Inclusive Growth and Environment and Resilience, coordinate the review and mainstreaming of green and inclusive entrepreneurship strategies to drive youth engagement in re-afforestation efforts and the Green economy initiatives in Kenya;
  4. Implement and follow up on partnerships and frameworks for integration of innovation in the green economy and inclusive business activities under the GrEYAP project
  5. Support resource mobilization efforts for the successful upscaling of the GrEYAP project activities in line with the broader country office country programme document and work with private sector
  6. Facilitate logistics and consultations on technical outputs relating to the work of consultants and or technical teams as per the workplan of GrEYAP project.
  7. Coordinate intra and inter agency and government consultations on implementation of Youth Empowerment activities both within GrEYAP and broadly to include the work of UNDP Youth Working Group, UN Inter-Agency Youth Working Group and Generation Unlimited activities through following up on action plans and evolving strategies for enhancing programme impact on youth
Qualifications/Requirements Required degree level: Master degree or equivalent Education - Additional Comments:
  • A Master’s degree in Environmental Management and Planning, Business Management, Development Studies, Community Development, Project Planning and Management, and/or related Social Sciences
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Management and Planning, Community Development, Disaster Management, Economics, Business Management, Project Planning and Management, Development Studies, any other relevant Social Sciences. Over 5 years’ experience in lieu of a Master’s degree will be considered
Required experience: 24 Months Experience remark:
  • Experinece in Environmental Management and Planning, Business Management, Development Studies, Community Development, Project Planning and Management, and/or related Social Sciences
  • Good management and leadership skills and a solid understanding of the role and place of private sector, entrepreneurship, and innovations, especially within the framework of youth development policy in Kenya.
Language skills:
  • English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
