OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST

Background

In the framework of the 1999 Second Protocol to the 1954 Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict, the 15th meeting of the Committee for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict (“the Committee”) took place at UNESCO Headquarters, Paris, from 10 to 11 December 2021.

In this context, UNESCO is launching a call for expressions of interest from qualified and experienced specialists to prepare, in English or in French, the summary records of this meeting of the Committee.

Work assignment

Under the overall supervision of the Secretary of the 1954 Hague Convention and its two (1954-1999) Protocols / Director of Culture and Emergencies Entity, supervision of the Head of Cultural Heritage Protection Treaties Unit and direct supervision of the Associate Programme Specialist of the Cultural Heritage Protection Treaties Unit of the Culture and Emergencies Entity (CEM), the Individual Specialist shall more specifically:

  • Draft, in English or in French, the summary records of the Committee debates, based on the scenarios, transcriptions and recordings of the 15th meeting of the Committee provided by the Secretariat.

Deliverables and timeline

The Individual Specialist shall submit to UNESCO the final draft of the summary records of the 15th meeting of the Committee debates for approval by the Secretariat by 30 April 2021.

Education

  • Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in Social or Human Sciences, or a related field.

 

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in drafting and editing documents relating to statutory meetings;
  • Experience in international organizations and academic institutions.

 

Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent writing skills in English or in French;
  • Computer literacy (MS Office)
  • Understanding of the 1954 Hague Convention and its two (1954 and 1999) Protocols.
