Organizational Setting

The Department of Nuclear Sciences and Applications implements the IAEA's Major Programme 2, "Nuclear Techniques for Development and Environmental Protection". This Major Programme comprises individual programmes on food and agriculture, human health, water resources, environment and radiation technologies. These programmes are supported by laboratories in Seibersdorf, Monaco and Vienna. The Major Programme's objective is to enhance the capacity of Member States to meet basic human needs and to assess and manage the marine and terrestrial environments through the use of nuclear and isotopic techniques in sustainable development programmes.

The Applied Radiation Biology and Radiotherapy Section's primary objective is to enhance Member States' capabilities to establish sound policies concerning radiotherapy and cancer treatment, and to ensure the effective and efficient utilization of current and future advanced cancer radiotherapy treatment technologies.

Main Purpose

As a member of the Applied Radiation Biology and Radiotherapy Section, reporting to the Section Head, the Associate Education Officer (Radiation Oncology) contributes specialized technical knowledge and experience to the implementation of educational and training activities in the fields of radiation oncology and radiation biology. The incumbent contributes to the development of new educational material such as implementing web-based training activities, monitors and reports on the effectiveness of training provided. He/she contributes to the implementation of training courses organized under the Technical Cooperation Programme.

Role

The Associate Education Officer (Radiation Oncology) is\: 1) a technical contributor in radiation oncology; 2) a collaborator, supporting the development and update of training material; 3) a contributor and analyst, supporting developments related to the monitoring of training activities and to maintaining and improving the quality of the training in radiation oncology and biology.

Functions / Key Results Expected

• Support the educational and training activities in radiation oncology and biology and follow-up on their effectiveness.
• Contribute to the identification of training needs in radiation oncology and biology areas and the development of appropriate training methodologies and tools.
• Contribute to the development and update of training material and ensuring harmonization of inputs to achieve overall consistency of the training.
• Support the integration of the training material into e-learning modules and other web-based modalities, including maintenance of the content of the Human Health Campus website.

Qualifications, Experience and Language skills

• First university degree in radiation therapy or radiation oncology.
• A minimum of two years of related working experience, such as in a radiotherapy department.
• Excellent oral and written command of English. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an asset.

Remuneration

The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $48805 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), a variable post adjustment which currently amounts to US $ 25476, dependency benefits, rental subsidy, education grant, relocation and repatriation expenses; 6 weeks' annual vacation, home leave, pension plan and health insurance
