About the job

 

The Communications intern will assist in the production and collection of communications products in close coordination with the Advocacy and Coms Specialist ensuring these products are in line with DRC’s policy and guidelines, donor guidelines, programme priorities and are sensitive to the context in Lebanon. The Communications Trainee will assist with the implementation of DRC Lebanon Communications Strategy as well as the Advocacy, Communication and visibility plan of the LINKED Consortium, under the supervision of the DRC Advocacy and Communication Specialist and the Consortium Manager

 

Responsibilities:

 

 

  • Assist in the Production and collection of communication materials such as feature stories, case studies, quotes, photographs, etc. ensuring accurate and rapid dissemination to the different stakeholders.
  • Assist in identifying powerful stories from the field and collecting relevant information as needed.
  • Assist in the development of communications schedules, liaising with staff to ensure reports (annual report, etc.), publications (factsheets, etc.) and other products are produced in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all projects communication and visibility content and requirements are up to date by scheduling regular field visits and working with programme teams.
  • Ensure that all external communications products are in line with DRC, partners and donors guidelines and requirements. Maintain an up-to-date document with all donor communication and visibility guidelines.
  • Contribute to the development of country communications standard operating procedures (SOPs) in coordination with the Advocacy and Communications specialist.
  • Assist in the engagement of local and national media and journalists to support positive communication of DRC’s programmes and advocacy activities in Lebanon.
  • Prepare background communication and promotional materials for briefings and visits of media. Assist in the planning, logistic and administrative arrangements for them as needed.
  • Establish a database (Media and Stakeholders) for information and media dissemination.
  • Assist in organising public events at field level as needed.
  • Prepare internal agendas and emails and other communication related material for meetings, events, and functions.
  • Assist in communications with any other duties as may be assigned.
  • Support the coordination and development of success stories and communications materials required for donor reporting
  • Support to programme sectors (Protection, Economic Recovery, RIMS) communication materials

 

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to have University degree in the field of communications, public relations, journalism or equivalent; Previous experience working in an international NGO is preferred.

 

. Moreover, we also expect the following:

 

Required

  • Good understanding of the political and security situation in Lebanon.
  • Good oral, written, photography and copyediting skills.
  • Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to learn and work under pressure within an international setting
  • Full professional proficiency in Arabic and English.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in communication
  • Previous experience working in an international NGO is preferred
