ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT:

 

 

The WFP 2017-2021 Strategic Plan emphasizes the centrality of working in partnership to eliminate all forms of malnutrition. Malnutrition has an immense impact on human development, contributing to the persistence of poverty and inequality through the intergenerational cycle of hunger. Building on the WFP Strategic Plan, the new WFP Nutrition Policy approved by the board in 2017 provides a guiding framework to support governments in making advances in the reduction of malnutrition.

 

In the upcoming years, WFP will continue to foster synergies with actors that have complementary mandates, skills, and resources, such as the private sector. This is reflected in the Private Sector Partnership division’s focus on finding shared value between WFP, the Government’s it supports and the Private Sector. In this context, WFP is committed to scale up its private sector engagement on nutrition through various platforms, including among others the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Business Network (SBN).

 

 

JOB PURPOSE:

Based in Rome, the Private Sector Partnerships Officer (Nutrition) will report to the Senior Manager for Private Sector Partnerships within the Nutrition division. The incumbent will be responsible for reporting, proposal development, provision of support to country offices engaged in private sector nutrition-centric resource mobilisation initiatives, development of external communication materials, support for management of global SBN multinational members, contribute to active policy

discussions around nutrition and the private sector, and any other assigned duties.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive, within delegated authority):

  1. Collect, organise and undertake timely reporting for relevant donors/partners (multilateral or private sector).

 

  1. Assist in the development of proposals and relevant documentation to engage with donors/partners (multilateral or private sector) at the global level as well as providing support to country offices engaged in private sector nutrition-centric resource mobilisation initiatives.

 

  1. Support the management and engagement with global SBN multinational members and seek out innovate channels for increased collaboration.

 

  1. Develop external communications materials related to the activities WFP is undertaking through the engagement of the private sector and in particular through the co-convening of the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Business Network (SBN). Provide support to country offices for local communications activities.

 

  1. Contribute actively to WFP’s internal and external engagement on policy discussions relevant to the nutrition and the private sector.

 

  1. Provide administrative support to the Private Sector Partnerships and SBN team.

 

  1. Any other assigned duties.

 

DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE:

  • Has experience working any of the following: donor relations; resource mobilisation; nutrition programming; private sector nutrition; or related.
  • Has 3 years of relevant experience.

 

STANDARD MINIMUM ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Advanced University degree in International Affairs, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Sciences or other field relevant to international development assistance, or First University Degree with additional years of related work experience and/or trainings/courses.

Language:

International Professional: Fluency (level C) in English. Intermediate knowledge (level B) of another UN language would be an asset.
