ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

The IT Operations Assistant report to the IT Operations Associate.

JOB PURPOSE

To support and assist the IT Operations Associate in all IT operations in the Country Office and the field. To deliver standard software and hardware support services, as well as monitoring and maintaining a wide range of information sources, to contribute to the effective delivery of IT services to WFP operations and beneficiaries.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
  • Carry-out system and equipment maintenance tasks, such as back-up system data, system protection, to ensure they are running effectively and enable easy and efficient use.
  • Undertake basic monitoring and troubleshooting of server systems to ensure a consistent delivery of IT services to staff.
  • Respond to basic queries about technology and systems to support the correct application of technology.
  • Receive and inspect all incoming assets and report discrepancies in IT materials inventoryto senior colleagues to ensure materials are efectively tracjed.
  • Perform basic beta testing and support the roll out of new versions of centrally supported software to ensure software is operational for WFP staff.
  • Ensure information is up to date and accurate within inventories, databases, websites, and archives in order to support senior officers in managing these systems.
  • With direction from senior colleagues, collate information to be included in standard material such as training documentation and web content, to contribute to the availability of information about services and products.
  • Follow set emergency response processes and procedures as required to provide support in enabling emergency food assistsnce needs to be met.
  • Provide first level technical and user support to all hardware including desktops, laptops and printers as well as operating system software and applications on Microsoft Windows Plartform.  Record and compile all support requests to resolution on helpdesk system.
  • Assess functional needs to determine opertional procurement requirements.
  • Identify and prepare hardware for disposal in compliance with IT asset management policy.
  • Provide first level support to WFP and Partners for the registration, management and disbursement to beneficiaries on WFP's beneficiary management system.
  • Perform any other related duties as required.

 

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Certificate, A+ Technical certification minimum. ITIL and any additional IT industry certifications e.g. N+, MCP will have added advantage.
  • Languages:  Fluency in  both written and oral Siswati and English.


 

DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE

• At least two years experience in similar role.
• Experience in reporting.
