Eligibility criteria

Minimum age: 25 years old. Nationals of the country of assignment are not eligible, except the assignments in Headquarters duty stations.

Description of task

Under the direct supervision of Chief Joint Mission Support Centre the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Act as the logistics coordinating link between clients such as Military, Police, Substantive components at Mission or Regional level and Logistics teams within Mission Support Sections, Regional Administrative Officers (RAOs) and JMSC at Mission HQ.
  • Assist with the preparation of logistics and support plans, deployment timelines and budget requirements for ongoing military and police deployments and redeployments, and other Mission support activities. Help to develop and implement methodologies and tools to enable effective execution of logistics plans.
  • Plan, coordinate, monitor and report all logistics tasks as per the priorities set by the Senior Mission Management.
  • Contribute towards the management of logistics operations, including management of logistics assets, material, and support projects. Ensures timely, accountable and cost-effective delivery support service to all Mission components.
  • Help to ensure that accurate and complete accounting, reporting and internal control systems are functioning and that all relevant records are maintained.
  • Assist with the preparations of contingency plans and logistics preparedness reviews.
  • Coordinate logistics operations with other UN agencies, military, police, and other Mission components.
  • In accordance with priorities laid down by Chief Joint Mission Support Centre (JMSC), coordinate tasking of all air, land and maritime transport assets for the movement by air, land or sea of personnel and cargo in consultation with JMCC.
  • Mobilize and maintain a Logistics Operations Room on 24/7 basis in case of emergencies or disaster relief.
  • Maintain logistics database and electronic reporting tools.
  • When working with (including supervising) national staff or (non-)governmental counterparts, the incumbent should set aside dedicated time for training, coaching, mentoring and capacity development.
  • Perform any other related duties as required by the supervisor.
Qualifications/Requirements Required degree level: Bachelor degree or equivalent Education - Additional Comments:

Public/Business Administration, Project Management, Engineering, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, or related field.

Required experience: 36 Months Experience remark:

Experience in relevant field directly related to Project Management, Engineering, Logistics and Supply Chain Management.

Previous experience in logistics operations within a UN Mission or NGO setting, a field military/civilian operation at national or international level, or other organizations with comparable mandates and working conditions, would be an asset.

Language skills:
  • English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
  • French(Optional), Level - Working Knowledge

Working computer skills, including full proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.).
