Human Resources Intern

Eligibility criteria

Candidate age: between 18 and 29 throughout the entire duration of their assignment. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment. Candidates must be students of any academic program (BA/BSc, Masters, PhD) and keep this status during the whole period of the volunteer assignment.

Description of task

Under the direct supervision of Human Resources Regional Specialist, the International University Volunteer will:

  1. Support to the implementation of HR services

a) Provide support in the review and analysis of documents and formats, as well as in the standardization of the file common of the regional network of human resources.

b) Collaborate with the management of the Human Resources site on the intranet and the Team Drive on Google Drive.

c) Support the translation of documentation into English

d) Participate in the regional Network of Human Resources.

e) Assist in the systematization of information relevant to the development of human resource processes.

  1. Provide support in selection and outreach processes

a) Assist in the execution of candidate search activities for vacancies throughout the region.

b) Collaborate in staff recruitment processes

c) Participate in the interviews and support in taking minutes.

  1. Support in training and development process

a) Support with the standardization of agendas and induction material

b) Support with the monitoring and implementation of training activities organized at the regional level.

Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities:

  • Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day);
  • Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country;
  • Provide annual and end of assignment self- reports on UN Volunteer actions, results and opportunities.
  • Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.;
  • Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers;
  • Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering, or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.
Qualifications/Requirements Required degree level: Secondary education Education - Additional Comments:
  • It is required to be currently studying the last cycles or to be a graduate of university programs of Administration, Psychology and related.
  • It will be valued to provide a university degree at the bachelor's level in Administration or Psychology, maximum three years of graduate when applying.
Required experience: 12 Months Experience remark:
  • Preferably having completed other internships or volunteering.
  • It will be valued to contribute experience or in public entities and / or government agencies or experience in human resources.

  • Microsoft Office package domain is required (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
