Organizational Setting

Under the general supervision and guidance of the Delivery Manager of the Regional Initiative on Small-Scale family farming and LTO of projects, the consultant will provide technical assistance to the Lead Technical Officer (LTO) in many tasks related to reviewing projects work plans, LOAs, procurement requests and reports for clearance by the LTO.

Reporting Lines

The consultant reports to the Senior Project Officer, Delivery Manager of the Regional Initiative on Small-Scale Family Farming (RI-SSFF).

Tasks and responsibilities

Review the technical formulation of project proposals and concept notes and provide feedback to project LTO.
Provide technical feedback for the environmental and social risk screening checklist and advice on the risk classification and certification ( FPIMS)
technical analysis and review of project documents, LOAs and reports, and advice on technical clearance.
check adequacy of technical inputs (goods, services and expertise acquired by FAO)
provide assistance in checking technical specifications for project procurement
assist in providing technical backstopping
check the validity of the technical specifications of material and facilities procured for project implementation
provide technical assistance in monitoring project performance and reporting
flag any problems that require decisions relating to the substance of the work;
provide technical assistance for technical clearance on progress and terminal reports and for project evaluation.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

University degree in Agriculture, Management of Natural Resources, Agro-forestry, Plant Pathology or relevant studies
Minimum 7 years of relevant experience agriculture, Management of Natural Resources, Agro-forestry, Project Management, evaluation, strategy development
Working knowledge of English and French.
