Community Engagement and Accountability (CEA) Adviser

Location: Moorgate, London*
Contract type: Fixed term to 31 December 2022
Hours: 35 hours per week
Salary: �39,000 pro rata per annum (incl. London Weighting)

The British Red Cross (BRC) has an exciting opportunity in the Performance & Accountability (P&A) Department as a Community Engagement and Accountability (CEA) Adviser.
As part of the global Red Cross and Red Crescent humanitarian network, the British Red Cross helps millions of people in the UK and around the world to prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies, disasters and conflicts.

*whilst the role is based at our head office in central London, due to Covid-19 home working is required until the office is re-opened. Right to work in the UK is a minimum requirement

What you will be doing
* As Community Engagement and Accountability (CEA) Adviser, you will provide technical support to IFRC regional offices, National Society counterparts and BRC’s in-country teams to ensure Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) is appropriately integrated into Covid-19 preparedness and response activities.
* You will lead the continuing adaptation and enhancement of the BRC hosted CEA Hub (https://communityengagementhub.org) to support the Red Cross Movement.
* You will lead and manage the delivery of the CEA commitments and targets defined in the International Directorate strategy.
* You will also provide high quality capacity building, technical support and advice to Red Cross Movement partners to strengthen the inclusion of CEA within country programmes and services.

What we are looking for
* With a deep and broad understanding of community engagement and accountability in the humanitarian or development sector, you will have substantial field experience of designing and establishing accountability tools and systems for the communities with whom we work.
* You will have demonstrable experience of using a variety of approaches to build the CEA capacity of individual staff and partner organisations
* As a person, you will need to be comfortable at taking the lead, while working collaboratively with others; you will be good at communicating, influencing and engaging people.
* You will be someone who seeks insight while supporting others to make the best use of information

Meet the team
The Performance and Accountability department in the International Directorate includes a five-strong Planning Monitoring Evaluation Accountability and Learning (PMEAL) team which the CEA Adviser will join. You will line manage the CEA Hub Content Officer.

You will also closely with other advisers in the P&A department, including the Safe and Inclusion Adviser and the Protection against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) Adviser.
