Compliance Manager (m/f/d) 

Main objective of the role:

Reporting directly to the Field Finance and Compliance Director, the job holder will establish and help implement Regional, Country and Partner compliance standards with regard to programmatic and financial accountability requirements. S/he provides rapid accountability support to ensure that the organisation reacts appropriately to cases regarding violation of accountability standards.

The compliance manager will as part of a team undertake in-depth Organizational Assessments of strategic (and large) CBM Partners and contribute to the development of key processes for the reviewing, analysing, reporting and monitoring key recommendations. Working together within a team of competence to plan and undertake Fraud and Investigations assignments may also be required from time to time.

We are looking for someone who will…
  • Facilitate the establishment of a compliance environment that sets the tone of CBM integrity, commitment to competence, management philosophy and implementation of remediation actions
  • Develop a strong and effective compliance management culture in the field to ensure all program implementation is done in accordance with CBM International grant policies and donor requirements
  • Contribute to the design of compliance management strategies, standards, tools and methodologies to mitigate inherent risks in program implementation
  • Implement and manage the issue resolution process of critical issue incidents with regular reporting back to FFCD
  • Identify and analyze compliance risk on an on-going basis and report to the FFCD on specific cases and general trends
  • Establish a process that assesses the quality of Partner system’s performance over time to track and monitor the occurrence of compliance issues
  • Participate in the development of programmatic and financial accountability standards
    Proactively collate and share key learnings to bridge the (or any) gap between institutional donor requirements and partner systems with the aim of assuring alignment and compliance

We are looking for someone who has…
  • CPA or equivalent qualification and/or a Degree in Accounting, Auditing, Economics, Business Administration or related discipline Experience in Disability-inclusive Development
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in professional audit, compliance and risk management, in a functional responsibility or in a management position within an INGO/leading audit firm(s)
  • Proven experience in undertaking Organizational Assessments
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to write clear, concise reports
  • Experience in undertaking fraud and investigations is a plus
  • A strong commitment to high standards of service delivery and customer care
  • Good organizational and management skills, with ability to prioritize work issues to meet deadlines with minimal supervision and adjust to constantly changing situations while maintaining focus on delivery and follow-through
  • Strong conceptual, critical, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Result-driven approach and ability to liaise and leverage at senior level
  • English professional proficiency. Any additional language would be advantageous
  • Good skills in MS Office 365, MA Navision and SharePoint solutions, accounting software(s)

This is a full-time unlimited contract position under local employment conditions and regulations to be based in one out of CBM´s settled locations in Africa, (Preferably in Lomé or Nairobi) and/or subject to the international scope of the country´s specific national labor and immigration laws founded in the existent immigration frameworks.
