For our project “Resistance and Liberation Movements in Transition”, we are looking for a

Project Manager (m/f/div)

The 50% position will be based in Berlin but involves frequent travelling, starting as soon as possible. 

Since 2006 Berghof Foundation is engaging directly with liberation/resistance movements facilitating a process of joint reflection, learning and peer-advice to explore political options for the transformation of violent conflicts  Specific activities include providing capacity-building on negotiation topics and negotiation skills. Upon request, tailor-made training on negotiations are offered to the RLMs. Funds for such activities have to be raised externally.  Furthermore, it is important that the wider policy community is sensitized to the topic and understand the relevance of engaging with RLMs as a means for sustainable political transformation. 

 

Main tasks of the position include: 

  • Engage regularly with the current network members to keep abreast of recent developments in the country
  • Develop a strategy to take the current activities forward and explore new avenues for support
  • Conceptualize training workshops, identify suitable resource persons and take over facilitation tasks
  • Liaise with the donor of the project and with like-minded organisations involved in this topic to share lessons learned  
  • Guide the work of the Junior Project Manager
  • Raise additional funds for specific tailor-made trainings for RLMs
  • Contribute to the interim and final reports of the project team as well as policy papers and other publications.
  • Ensure proper documentation

  

Qualifications:

  • Training abilities in political negotiation, dialogue and mediation. A minimum experience of 2 years is required
  • Master in a relevant field, such as peace and conflict studies, international relations, law or political science
  • Excellent verbal and written language skills in English and Spanish
  • Track record of personal engagement in the peacebuilding field
  • Facilitation & communication skills.
  • Experience of working with Non-state armed groups is an added value
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently

  • Strong empathetic skills to work with unconventional and sensitive conflict actors
  • Ability to work under time pressure
  • Regular travels to different regions
  • Curiosity, passion, flexibility and perseverance

 

The part-time position (20 hrs/week) will be based in Berlin, Germany for a period of 24 months (extendable), starting as soon as possible.
