Job Description

As part of Economic Recovery and Development (ERD) Programme, IRC is implementing the Skills, Entrepreneurship and Capital for Urban Refugees (SECURE) Project in Kampala. The goal of the project is to enhance the financial inclusion of urban refugees, and with an objective to improve access to formal financial services and employment opportunities among urban refugees in Kampala. As part of this project, the IRC is supporting Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) that include both refugees and host community members in various Kampala city divisions.

The IRC now wishes to recruit the services of an experienced Hair dressing consultant to train beneficiaries organized in groups of a maximum of 50 participants in Hair dressing modules as part of this initiative.

Scope of Work:

The consultant will train a cohort (January to June and July to December 2020) of refugees and host community VSLA members, with a maximum of 50 members in the Cohort. All the trainings will be conducted at the Livelihood Centre facility located in Nsambya Estate Makindye Division- Kampala.

Specifically, the consultant will:

  • Meet with IRC ERD team to draw up a training plan and organize the necessary resources.
  • Conduct an orientation with selected groups in order to adapt the training content.
  • Prepare a suitable training curriculum/manual suitable for hair dressing.
  • Train the 50 participants under each cluster using the manual developed within the specified period.
  • Participate in review meetings with the IRC.
  • Submit a comprehensive final report according to the IRC shared reporting template.
  • Keep daily attendances of the participants
  • Conduct the trainings in a language suitable (Luganda, Kiswahili, English and French) for the specific set of beneficiaries.

The IRC will:

  • Support the trainers in mobilization of the participants for the trainings.
  • Meet with the trainers to draw an implementation plan and organize the necessary resources required for the trainings.
  • Avail ERD Officers and Community Based Facilitators (CBFs) to work with the trainers where required.

Deliverables:

  • The main deliverable is a comprehensive training report submitted in soft copy (MS Word and PDF formats) which shall include;
  • Customized Hair dressing training manual in English.
  • Training notes and delivery plan (soft copies)
  • Some photos taken during the trainings,
  • Training evaluations and recommendations.
  • Possible institutions for further referrals 

Qualifications

  • Degree or any related qualifications in relevant Hair dressing skills/Cosmetology and make up skills.
  • Hands on experience in delivering practical trainings in Hair Dressing for multi-cultural vulnerable communities
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering such trainings using participatory and other practical methods.
  • Ability to conduct such trainings in Luganda, Kiswahili, English and or French is an added advantage.
