Job Description

Job Overview/Summary: Part time, temporary 2/2 - 4/30/2020

The Employment Assistant works with the economic empowerment team to provide services to assist newly arrived refugee clients to attain self-sufficiency through employment. Specifically, the Employment Assistant teaches job readiness training, provides interpretation services, assists with program enrollments, and follows up with clients on job placements. Responsibilities Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: • Assist with interpretation for intake, and orientations. If appropriate provide enrollment services. • Assist employment staff in providing both group and one-on-one intense job readiness orientations that provide clients with the basic skills for employability. • Assist clients with job applications, and interviews • Follow up on job placement, and gather pay stubs from clients • Assist clients and employers as necessary with post placement issues and continuing employment needs. • Work with team in developing culturally appropriate vocational training opportunities • Ensure case files and reports are maintained in accordance with grant requirements. • Other duties as requested

Qualifications

 Requirements
Undergraduate degree preferred
Demonstrated experience with the US job search process and the ability to coach effectively clients through the nuanced process of securing employment.
Excellent communication skills, with fluency in written and spoken English.  Bilingual ability in one of the predominant languages of the local client base is desired.
Proven success achieving goals and working effectively with all levels of staff in a multicultural environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle with current insurance, and the ability to travel regularly throughout the service delivery area.
