Our team and mission

The Corporate Planning, Budget & Controlling Division is responsible for coordinating annual income planning, budget preparation and approval, assessing and consolidating in-year and multi-year resource plans and related risks to ESA programmes and activities, following their evolution and proposing corrective measures as required. It plays a key role in the decision-making processes of the Agency as it performs analyses, elaborates scenarios and prepares options for decision-taking by ESA’s Executive Board. It interfaces with Member States for budgeting, financial reporting and income management purposes. It also leads corporate development and change projects in areas within its responsibility.

Field(s) of activity

Under the guidance of a senior member of the team, you as a YGT will be involved in an exciting end-to-end project related to one of the Division’s domains. You will be responsible for preparation of the project plan, execution and finalisation. Topics could be process improvement, performance management, financial analysis or controlling techniques. This assignment is a unique opportunity for you to acquire knowledge and experience, while making an important contribution to the development and delivery of Agency-level  initiatives, thus gaining insight into the related benefits, challenges and other perspectives that characterise efforts at this level.

You should have just completed, or be in the final year of a university course at Master's level (or equivalent) in a technical or scientific discipline together with an interest and/or specific qualification on financial management and controlling.

Additional requirements

The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset.

You should demonstrate good interpersonal skills and the capacity to work both independently and as part of a team.

During the interview your motivation and overall professional perspective/career goals will also be explored.
