Post
Young Graduate Trainee for RAMS Engineering

This post is classified F1.

Location

ESTEC, Noordwijk, The Netherlands

Our team and mission

The European Space Agency in cooperation with the European Union is developing Galileo, an independent, global, European-controlled navigation satellite system.

The Galileo Programme Department is responsible for the design, development and validation of the Galileo Satellite Navigation System, consisting of the Galileo Space, Ground and User Segments.

Galileo Reliability Availability Maintainability and Safety (RAMS) activities are part of the System Product Assurance Unit.

Candidates interested are encouraged to visit the ESA website: http://www.esa.int

Field(s) of activity

During the design phase of Galileo System Reliability and Availability, performance levels have been assessed through predictions. The system has been modeled using input data and assumptions.

The system is currently providing initial services. Field data are collected (i.e. operating hours, number of failures, outage duration, etc.) to measure the system’s operational reliability and availability and compare with the predictions.

Reports on the measured vs. predicted reliability/availability are performed on a regular basis.

A dedicated tool has been developed to automatically extract input data and derive the relevant statistics. The tool needs now to be further upgraded to make it more user-friendly.

As a YGT, you will be in charge of:

  • developing a user interface to facilitate use of the tool,
  • upgrading the tool to produce new statistics,
  • upgrading the tool to add consistency checks between input data and tool output,
  • using the tool to produce Galileo Measured Availability Prediction statistics during the year of recruitment.
