Background
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides coordination support to the UN Country Team (UNCT) and UN system wide activities.
- Supports coordination of joint programmatic and policy initiatives of the UNSDF.
- Provides substantive coordination and strategic planning support to the RCs engagement with stakeholders.
- Supports the day-to-day functions of the RCO.
- Organises UNCT meetings and retreats, including logistical arrangements, preparing documents and identifying presentations on topics of special interest.
- Prepares high quality reports of UNCT meetings, retreats and shares them in a timely manner.
- Supports the UNSDF Driver Groups in preparation of high-quality documents summarising the developments and achievements of the interagency work.
- Identifies and recommends actions for enhancing interagency coordination, initiating and providing support in the implementation of interagency joint actions agreed upon by the UNCT.
- Supports the arrangement of forums and events on areas related to UN activities.
- Participates in the work of the UNSDF Driver and Thematic Groups and preparation of inputs to the UNSDF.
- Maintains a documentary repository for all UNSDF Driver and Thematic Groups comprising of minutes, reports, and other relevant information.
- Collaborates with the Data, Results Reporting Specialist and UNSDF Monitoring and Evaluation Group to support the timely completion of the UNSDF annual reviews and organising of the implementation of the mid-term review and final evaluations.
- Provides strategic support to the roll out of the work of the Gender Thematic Group (GTG).
- Facilitates communication links between UNCT, UNSDF Driver and Thematic Groups, UN Communications Group (UNCG) and Operations Management Team (OMT).
- Drafts speaking notes, organises briefing packs and prepares presentation material for the RC. Critically analyses briefs for the RC and ensures that they are substantively accurate and reflective of the RC’s position.
- Organises and coordinates with the Executive Associate and respective staff of the RCO, all internal and external meetings for the RC and ensures that appropriate briefing materials, and talking points are prepared.
- In consultation with staff of the RCO, channels all important issues and requests for the RC’s attention.
- Under the guidance of the RCO Team Leader, supports the management of processes related to human and financial resource management, procurement, general administration, security, and information technology for the RCO in close collaboration with UNDP.
- Supports the activities undertaken by the RCO, ensuring that programmed activities are carried out in a timely fashion.

Required Skills and Experience
- Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Social Sciences, International Relations, Political Sciences or related area.
- A bachelor’s degree with a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience at the national or international level in providing policy and coordination support, experience in supporting development projects, knowledge about the UN and Resident Coordinator systems would be an advantage.
- Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills in English and fluency in Sinhala and/or Tamil.
