Organizational Setting


The Director General's Office for Coordination (DGOC) provides leadership and coordination for all IAEA activities at the executive level for meeting Member States' needs, and achieving a one-house approach and a results-based management.


The Office for Public Information and Communication provides objective, accurate and timely information about the IAEA and nuclear developments that fosters public understanding of the IAEA's global roles. It also provides advice to the Director General on relations with the media and organizes press briefings. The Office coordinates the communication activities for the rest of the house and assists in the media aspects of major IAEA events and conferences.
The Web, Digital Media and Public Information Materials Section has corporate responsibility for the editorial management, creation and development of information products with a particular focus on the web, digital media, internal communications and cross-departmental promotional material.


Main Purpose


In support of IAEA's increased outreach activities, the consultant is expected to provide cross-sectional support for IAEA's multilingual communications, including (i) identification of relevant contents by targeted language groups/regions for media, web and social media communications, (ii) research and establishment of relevant media, on-line platforms and  influencers per language group/regions, with a view to increase the visibility of IAEA activities  with all UN languages.


Functions / Key Results Expected

  • Advise on selection of the most relevant OPIC and Department's contents for each of the UN languages other than English, based on regional/language audiences and news trends and organise relevant translation;
  • Advise on selection and creation of social media contents targeting specific regional/language audience based on news trends and specific regional/UN language interests other than English;
  • Identify web and social media amplifiers and influencers in all UN languages other than English and prepare communications with them;
  • Identify the most influential media per region/language other than English and propose contents to be sent to them;
  • Identify institutions/NGOs and reach out to them to expand the reach of OPIC contents in languages other than English.

Qualifications and Experience
  • University deegree in communication, marketing and/or languages or relevant field.
  • Minimum two years practical experience in communication, on-line marketing and/or interpretation/translation functions.
  • Good knowledge of news trend per region and UN languages [other than English], relevant news outlets and online communication platforms in these languages.
  • Strong interest in cultural/languages and development issues.
  • Good oral and written command of English. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an asset.


Remuneration

The remuneration for this consultancy is a daily fee of up to a maximum of € 170, based on qualifications and experience. In case duty travel is required within the assignment, a daily subsistence allowance (DSA) and travel costs are provided. Health coverage and pension fund are the responsibility of the incumbent.
