The purpose of the assistant position is to assist in the day to day implementation of the Shelter project.
Duties and responsibilities
- Conduct needs assessments, focus group discussions, community meetings, and other community mobilization activities.
- In collaboration with Shelter Project Assistant(s) – social, conduct door to door visits to potential beneficiary households and correctly fill project-related forms and questionnaires.
- Explain to the beneficiaries the project implementation methodology, scope of work, selection criteria and any other related beneficiary project documents.
- Carry out regular follow-up visits with selected project beneficiaries during and post-project implementation.
- In collaboration with Shelter Project Assistant(s) – Social, conduct site monitoring visits to follow up on construction activities being carried out at selected housing units.
- Respond to any project beneficiary information requests and complaints as directed by the Project Coordinator and M&E unit.
- Report on daily activities of Incentive labor and complete documentation in regards to attendance and performance.
- Participate in field-level coordination with community stakeholders in areas of project implementation as directed by Shelter Officer.
- Participate in activities at distribution sites including registration of recipient households, verification of IDs, and signing of distribution lists by beneficiaries.
- Conduct household level M&E activities and develop success stories from project implementation
Perform any other task relevant to the position as requested by the Project Officer and/or the Project Coordinator.
Qualifications
- university graduated in a relevant field.
- Social work or similar background.
- Fluency in spoken and written and Arabic or Kurdish. Some knowledge of written and spoken English.Knowledge of additional local dialects is a plus.
Personal qualities
- Experience working as a Shelter Assistant (or Equivalent) in a humanitarian/recovery context.
- Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts.
- Experience in field-level coordination with community stakeholders, and local government officials.
- Local knowledge of areas of implementation.
Additional Information
Contract duration: to be decided until the 31 of Aug 2020-with the possibility of extension.
Salary & benefits: 4/1 according to NRC's salary scale and terms and conditions.
