Hours: 35 Hours per Week

Salary: GBP 28,450

About the role

The HumanitarianPolicy and Advocacy Officer will support the work of BRC's internationalHumanitarian Policy Department helping to ensure greater impact and influence.The role will undertake research and policy work on the team's policypriorities and help ensure more effective and impactful outreach andcommunications. The officer will monitor and communicate on humanitarian trendsand themes under the international strategy and carry out dissemination of theteam's policy outputs under the guidance of the Humanitarian Advocacy Manager.

About the team

The HumanitarianPolicy (HP) team is made up of a dynamic group of colleagues in BRC'sInternational Directorate who are tasked with ensuring high quality policyanalysis, research and advocacy that enables improved humanitarian outcomes forcrisis-affected people. Our work currently focuses on a range of issues thatsupport and cut across the areas of focus in our broader InternationalDirectorate Strategy (protracted conflict, chronic hunger, and migration anddisplacement).

About the person

Along with anunderstanding of the international humanitarian system or internationaldevelopment context, candidates for this role should have:

  • The ability to capture and summarise largeamounts of informatio
  • Proven research, drafting and editing skills
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work well aspart of a team
  • Experience of working or volunteering oninternational disaster response or international development, either withinprogrammes or policy
