(a) increase understanding of relevant issues at the international level by involving them directly in the work of the Office and the application of ILO principles, programmes and strategies;
(b) gain practical experience with the ILO directly related to their field of study.
The internship programme is not intended to lead to a career in the ILO. There should be no expectation of further employment at the end of the internship.

IMPORTANT:

The Multimedia Unit is responsible for the production of multimedia content, in the form of photos, video, audio, animations and works in close coordination with all other units of DCOMM, including News and Media, Advocacy and Campaigns, Internal Communications, Publications and the Management Support Unit, as well as supporting the work of the Organization’s technical departments and field offices.
As an intern for the Multimedia Unit, you will gain experience in the planning and implementation of activities designed to raise awareness of the work of the ILO. These activities are meant to promote, support and enhance understanding of the ILO through a variety of traditional and digital media (internet, television, radio, social media) aimed at specified audiences, including ILO constituents (governments and employers’ and workers’ organizations), policy makers, donors, academia, the UN system and civil society.
You will work alongside specialists who produce audio-visual information and multimedia content using the ILO’s research, data and technical expertise.
Interns should expect to devote 10% to 20% of their time to administrative tasks.
Multimedia Communication, Social Sciences, Broadcast or Digital Media Studies or other relevant subject area. Applicants should currently be in the last year of a Master's degree (or equivalent), or have completed studies within 12 months prior to this application.
Any relevant work experience and knowledge of multimedia communication or public information would be an advantage.
Applicants should have working knowledge (both oral and written) of at least one of the ILO's official languages (English, French or Spanish).
Applicants should be able to adapt to an international, multicultural and multilingual environment, have good communication skills, and be able to work in teams.
Applicants should be able to use video editing software (Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, After Effects, etc.) and motion graphics would be a strong advantage. Experience in filming, media assets management, digitizing of video archives and online multimedia production.

Selection process:
Following a first screening by the Human Resources Development Department (HRD), hiring departments will short-list applicants. You will be directly contacted should an internship opportunity match your profile. If you have not been contacted by any department within six months after your application, you can consider that you have not been selected by any department for this roster. If still eligible, you may apply to the next roster.
If shortlisted, you may be contacted by the hiring department for a written test and/or interview. The ILO may use communication technologies such as Skype, Video or teleconference, e-mail, etc for the assessment and evaluation of candidates.
Stipend:
As an intern in Geneva, you will receive a stipend of 2245 CHF per month from the ILO, unless you receive funding through another institution (for example your university or a foundation). If you receive partial funding, ILO will cover the difference to ensure you receive 2245 CHF per month. Your travel to Geneva will be at your own expense.
Insurance:
Please note that the ILO does not take responsibility for any costs arising from accidents and/or illness incurred during the internship. You will be responsible for your own insurance coverage for illness and accidents for the duration of the internship at the duty station (whether Geneva or the field).
