Location: International Office Middle East and North Africa, Jordan

SOS Children’s Villages International is the umbrella organisation for the global federation of SOS Children’s Villages. As a non-governmental social development organisation, we support children without parental care and families in difficult living conditions through services in care, education, health and emergency relief, and we advocate for the rights of children and young people, in alliance with a great diversity of partners. We work in 136 countries and territories, reaching over one million children, young people, families and caregivers each year. SOS Children´s Villages International Representative
Location: International Office Region, Middle East and North Africa (IOR MENA) in Jordan
Duration: 12 months (with possibility of renewal)

Mission

The mission of the SOS Children´s Villages International Representative (CVI Representative) is to be the link between the General Secretariat (GSC) and the Member Associations (MAs) in Syria, Jordan, Palestine and Egypt, ensuring positive interaction and supporting these MAs in all areas, especially in organizational development and good governance.

Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Be the first and primary point of contact between MAs and the Federation; maintaining affiliation of 4 MAs through effective relationship management and communication.
  • Guide and support MAs in becoming strong entities through the on-going development of boards and national management teams.
  • Monitor, support, recommend, escalate that the development of the MA is in line with federation minimum standards, policies, and guidelines.
  • Directly support the National Director in the role of managing the MA and provide input to the performance evaluation.
  • Support the MAs though the annual planning cycle, Endorse MA plans and budgets to the International Director MENA, oversee MA planning and budgeting process and ensure integration of the global strategic plan with local plans.
  • Contributing to the regional management by bringing MA perspectives and needs into the planning and coordination of work within the region.
  • Develop a deep understanding of each MA in your cluster so that you are to facilitate effective information flow across the federation to Promoting & Supporting Associations (PSAs), donors, within the Regional Management Team (RMT), other MAs and the GSC.
Requirements 
  • Educated to University degree level
  • Proven track record of minimum 7 years of management experience within INGO, public sector of similar field
  • Good understanding of the working context and environment in the Middle East
  • Track record of strong stakeholder management and implementation skills
  • Experience in governance work and organization development processes
  • Highly numerate with proactive decision making skills based on sound analysis
  • Excellent people management skills and ability to work effectively with collaboration tools.
  • Excellent communication skills and the gravitas to work at a senior/board level
  • Ability to build strong relationships/networks and to work and cooperate effectively and in a spirit of partnership with peers, partners, stakeholders and others who are not in the line of command
  • Excellent language skills both spoken and written English and Arabic.
  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently to the countries listed.
