 NRC is implementing a Shelter Programme in the Zaatari/Azraq refugee Camps in Jordan, the project aim to support refugees in the camps to have improved coping strategies through the provision of adequate housing and support to their ability to meet their basic needs. The Shelter Technical Assistant / Construction Supervisor will be responsible to plan, execute, and manage several construction units/crews, to ensure workflow is adequate and up to the agreed standards, meeting deadlines and targets. 
Duties and responsibilities
  • Resolves engineering problems by collecting and analyzing information; researching, analyzing, adapting, and modifying engineering techniques; recommending solutions; preparing drawings, schematics, and diagrams; evaluating components, materials, and suppliers; resolving design integration issues; developing specifications and safety standards; performing installations. 
  • Supervise and Keep records of all incentive labor working with the team with the description of the activities conducted, details of the incentive labor.
  • Following up with labors and making sure that all requested tasks are done based on the agreed specifications, requirements, quality, and on time.
  • Reporting work progress on daily, weekly or monthly basis as it will be agreed with the line manager based on the available workload and based on the nature of the given task. 
  • Prepare detailed plans for project implementation and ensure follow up and updating of the plan during implementation.
  • Prepare materials dispatch form based on the designs and BoQs.
  • Reporting all challenges faced or expected to be faced during your work.
  • Other functions that might be assigned by the supervisor. 
 
Qualifications
  • B.A degree in engineering, Civil/Architectural/Mechanical/Electrical engineering. 
  • Experience from working within technical expertise area in a humanitarian/ recovery context.
  • Knowledge and experience within a relevant administration, craft or technical field and ideally a relevant vocational qualification. 
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts.
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
  • Some knowledge of English.

Contract period: 12 months, renewal subject to positive performance and funding
- Salary/benefits: 842 JOD "subject to social security"
- Duty station:  Za'atari Camp
