STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Master’s Degree in Management, Business Administration, Education, Public administration, Economics, Social Sciences, Gender, Agriculture, Agriculture Economics or similar from an accredited University
Language: Demonstrates strong oral and written English communication skills, along with local languages

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
  • Providing oversight and technical support to the JPGE at the district level by serving as the district co-ordination focal points with respect to JPGE interventions operations secretariat with respect to JPGE interventions at that level.
  • Convene periodic meetings with all Joint UN project IPs, and District focal points in the district to facilitate information-sharing, identify opportunities for cross-project collaboration and synthesize best practices and lessons learned
  • Developing district micro-action plan for program implementation and support the implementation of the JPGE Programme at the district level
  • Ensuring that monthly progress and/or quarterly progress reports are prepared and shared with the three UN agencies (WFP, UNICEF and UNFPA) in a timely manner.
  • Ensure effective application of Results Based Management (RBM) tools through effective monitoring of the execution of the district annual implementation plan on monthly basis and ensure the achievement of Programme results
  • Working closely with the District Director of Finance (Government) to ensure that all direct reports comply with financial monitoring standards and that they meet monthly budget variance targets as well as budgeting and reporting requirements of United Nations Agencies
OTHER SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to compile, maintain and analyze data, prepare reports and draw initial conclusions in support of work conducted by another officer;
  • Ability to work in a team, and maintain effective work relationships with logistics counterparts and staff within the regional/country offic
  • Displays cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability;

Functional Competencies:

  • Strong conceptual and research/analytical skills, with the ability to think strategically and to rapidly analyze and integrate diverse information from varied sources into conclusions and recommendations;
  • Experience working in the District or similar regions in Malawi;A self-starter and able to inspire and influence action
DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE
  • Experience in the area of Education, Gender and NGO management or public education sector;
  • Prior experience with UN system is an asset.
  • Outstanding communication, project management and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with the working environment and professional standards of international organizations
  • Proven Experience building and maintaining partnerships with Government, other development partners and the UN
  • Experience in working with NGOs and civil society, and with participatory approaches.
  • Computer literacy is essential.
