BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

The World Food Programme, as the UN coordinating agency for the JPGE, is therefore seeking the services of a technical specialist to be seconded to the Ministry of Education Science and Technology to support the Government JPGE National Coordinator’s office.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Build capacity for intra-ministerial coordination of JPGE program delivery
  • Linkages for national line ministries, district offices, UN agencies and other partners
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES CONT:
DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT
  1. MoEST focal points task descriptions 
  2. Approved (quarterly) plans and budgets in line with departmental mandates
  3. Monthly progress reports from coordination team (including from desk officers in other line ministries)
  4.  Minutes of MoEST management meetings discussing quarterly progress reports for JPGE coordination
  5. Monthly consultancy report: An analytical view of progress report in terms of support provided, challenges faced, how they were addressed and focus on addressing challenges in the next reporting period.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Education:

Masters’ Degree in Development Studies, Social sciences, International development or any other relevant advanced university degree.

Experience:

 10 years Professional experience, in program development and M & E related issues. Strong experience in developing multi-stakeholder strategies in national and International development, involving business.

Knowledge & Skills:

Solid understanding of Girls Education programming in Malawi. Previous experience working in/with government systems is a must , especially working with Ministry of Education Science & Technology. Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships, persuade, influence and adapt communication styles to different situations and individuals.
