Project Manager (m/f/d) - National Position

 
Malteser International, the worldwide relief agency of the Order of Malta for humanitarian aid, works in more than 20 countries in Africa, Asia and the Americas for people in need, regardless of their religion, origin or political affiliation. Its mission is to provide emergency relief as well as to implement rehabilitation measures and to facilitate the link between emergency relief and sustainable development. Christian values and the humanitarian principles of impartiality and independence form the basis of its work in the following areas: Relief, Reconstruction & Rehabilitation; Health & Nutrition; Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH); Livelihood & Social Programs and Disaster Risk Reduction.


 

Malteser International (MI) is working in Myanmar since 2001, Malteser International currently employs more than 350 national staff in Rakhine, Shan and Kayin states, where our work aims at ensuring communities have access to primary health care services. We also offer comprehensive WASH and disaster risk reduction/climate change adaptation solutions, and provide relief after disasters. MI strives to enable and empower the most vulnerable communities in marginalized areas through a participatory and sustainable approach.

 
In support of our work in Shan State, Myanmar, Malteser International is looking for a motivated Project Manager (m/f/d) - National Position.

Responsibilities::

  • Manage timely and effective implementation of projects activities according to defined targets, indicators, approved plans and budget
  • Ensures to inform relevant information, any difficulties and challenges to Project Coordinator and share with all team members for better ways forward
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight to the consortium partners through the steering committee as well as bilaterally to ensure that overall project objectives and expected results are met
  • Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Works closely with the MI MEAL support, the respective MI sector supervisors and partners to establish a functioning Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEAL) system
  • Evaluates the data and information in time and adapts work plan when necessary to ensure achievement of objectives
  • Represent Malteser International towards governmental bodies, partner agencies, Ethnic Health Organizations, Ethnic Armed Organizations, technical working groups, international agencies and donors in coordination with the Program Coordinator and Managers
  • Together with MI sector leads liaises effectively with government departments, agencies and (I)NGOs to ensure that MI benefits from lessons learnt by other organizations and implements closely with local government departments.

Qualifications:

  • University Graduate, post graduate degree or equivalent in relevant field. (E.g, Nutrition, Livelihood or WASH, Medical, Agriculture, Project Management)
  • At least 8 years’ experience, from which most of them should be in a Management position in Humanitarian Aid or Development field
  • Interpersonal skills as a leader providing and setting a good example for the team members to follow
  • Experience in writing activity reports that both describes and analyses progress or lack of such
  • Proven skills in operation computer and common applications like MS Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Interest and motivation to work in remote areas; Language skills: Myanmar and English

Conditions:

  • Start Date: as soon as possible
  • Duty Station: Mong Tong and Mong Hsat Townships, Shan State, Myanmar
  • Duration of contract: 12 months with possible extension
  • Salary according to qualification and experience: 14th Month Salary & Health Insurance
