We Effect is recruiting an Environment, Climate Change and Resilience Global Advisor

As thematic advisor, you will lead the work on Environment, Climate Change and Resilience (ECCR) in the organization. The main focus of the work is to support our regional and country offices in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Balkans to strengthen the integration of and focus on ECCR in our development programs. 

As ECCR Advisor you will be a part of a team of thematic experts within the international department at We Effect’s head office in Stockholm.  The role entails close coordination and cooperation with our programme staff in our regional offices and particularly the ECCR focal points in each region

Main tasks:

  • Oversee and support ECC policy and strategy implementation.
  • Contribute to, support and develop additional policies, strategies and positions regarding Environment, Climate Change and Resilience (ECCR), particularly on resilience. 
  • Gather experiences and develop new knowledge about how ECCR effectively can be developed, managed, monitored and followed-up in We Effect’s development programmes.
  • Support development and the implementation of practical tools, and guidance that contributes to effective integration of ECCR in We Effect’s development programmes.  
  • Through trainings, capacity building and practical support contribute to strengthen the organisations’ capacity on ECCR. 
  • Provide quality assurance in the development of steering documents, program and project applications and reports.
  • Follow-up and evaluate development programmes in relation to ECCR.
  • Represent We Effect in relevant networks and in relation to external stakeholders.

Required qualifications:

  • University degree within a relevant field or equivalent knowledge acquired through other means.
  • At least 5 year experience working with environment, climate change and resilience in development cooperation related work.
  • Experience of working on gender equality and gender mainstreaming
  • Good theoretical understanding and practical experience from planning, monitoring and evaluation methodologies commonly used in development cooperation 
  • Experience of providing capacity strengthening support and facilitation through workshop trainings, toolkit development, e-learning and coaching/on-the-job approaches
  • Documented experience from work with policy, thematic and/or knowledge development 
  • Excellent ability to communicate in English verbally and in writing.
  • Experience of working in developing countries.
