Job Title: Humanitarian Access Assistant - Derek, Al Hasakah

Job Description
- Implement humanitarian access procedures, in line with humanitarian principles and applicable protocols, including movement permits, special permissions and border access for personnel and goods
- Help the HAO to Inform programs and operations staff of requirements for humanitarian access during planning
- Ensure timely completion of processes and procedures to facilitate effective and efficient access
- File and maintain records of permits, clearances and exemptions from relevant actors
- Provide direct support to HAO and staff to resolve access issues, including interference, at checkpoints, border crossings, distribution sites and facilities through coordination, liaison and negotiation
- Track and report to HAO on the humanitarian access environment including incidents and issues to inform humanitarian access planning and management and recommend solutions
- Support assessment of new sites and locations and the promotion of acceptance and access
- Other duties as needed or requested by supervisor
- All IRC staff is required to adhere to the IRC Way Standards for Professional Conduct and the IRC country employment policies.
- Serve as Security Officer in the IRC
- Working with operation staff (and drivers), ensure that vehicle movements and maintenance are done in a safe manner.
- Insure the availability upon request during the emergency.
- Train Staff on security related issue when necessary
- Perform other duties, as needed or requested by the supervisor.
- Supervise guards
- Conduct an orientation for all new staff members on arrival.
- Giving courses ( stay safe and firefighting ) for staff
Qualifications
- University degree
- At least two years of relevant work experience; previous NGO field experience preferred
- Solid knowledge and understanding of the Syrian context, including factors affecting humanitarian access and acceptance
- Organized, detail oriented, proactive and team player
- Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to travel regularly, including to new locations
- Understanding of and commitment to humanitarian principles
- Strong computer competency with word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and other IT skills
- English and Arabic required. Kurdish advantageous.
Working Environment: Field office location with local and some regional travel.
