Organizational Setting

The main aim of the FAO country offices, which are headed by an FAO Representative, is to assist governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to help develop the agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors, and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner.

Reporting Lines

The Assistant for National Animal Health Programme (NAHP) shall operate under the overall guidance and responsibility of the FAO Regional Representative for Europe and Central Asia (REU) and the functional and administrative guidance of the Assistant FAO Representative in Georgia, the direct supervision of the Programme Officer, CTA a.i. in collaboration with the Deputy Team Leader of the GCP/GEO/009/SWI project, and in cooperation with NAHP Steering Committee (SC)/Task Force (TF) members and in particular, representatives of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia (MEPA).

Technical Focus

Provide day-to-day secretarial/administrative support to the National Animal Health Programme.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Support MEPA in arranging appointments for the NAHP TF and SC meetings and respond to routine requests for information;
  • Provide, administrative and logistics support to MEPA for execution of SC and to TF chairs for TF meetings;
  • Provide draft bilingual (English and Georgian) minutes of SC and TF meetings, to MEPA and TF chairs and introduce changes as required.
  • Draft responses to standard/routine correspondence and other communications; use word processing package to produce a wide variety of large, complex documents and reports;
  • Translate, proofread documents and format texts for accuracy, grammar, punctuation and style, as well as for adherence to established standards;
  • Research, compile and organize information and reference materials from various sources of reports; create spreadsheets and presentations; maintain electronic and paper files;
  • Provide written and oral translation from and into English;
  • Perform other duties as required.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
  • University level degree in administration, management or related fields;
  • Minimum 2 years of related work experience;
  • Excellent writing, editing, and oral communication skills in English and Georgian.
  • National of Georgia.
