Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITES:

The SHLS assistant will be responsible for organizing the SHLS and supporting Facilitators as they work with children and youth in the SHLS to deleiver SHLS and ECD activities .This position will:

·Serve as the focal point for communications with the Child Protection Officer

·Ensure that all children and [AO1][II2]are safe from harm and report any possible risks to the IRC immediately

·Attend trainings organized by the IRC

·Ensure that Facilitators are aware of and attend the trainings on ECD and CP ( others ) organized by the IRC

·Work with Facilitators to set schedules for daily/weekly activities for children/youth

·Post the daily schedules, rules and regulations and Code of Conduct in the SHLS for all to see

·Observe and support Facilitators

·Monitor the attendance of Facilitators

·Serve as the focal point for community members and parents

·Organize community information sessions, meetings and open days, especially on ECD.

·Collect data from facilitators and report on a weekly basis to the Child Protection Officer

·Manage the suggestion box, report back to community and share comments with the IRC

·Adhere to the Code of Conduct every day – in SHLS and in community

·Ensure that children’s attendance is being accurately kept (no inflation)

·Ensure timely delivery of data to CP officer for reporting purposes

·Support CP Officer with reporting, assessments, surveys, etc. according to the needs of the program.

·Ensure daily monitoring of activities within the SHLS, and reporting to CP officer needs and feedback of the program

SHLS Activities:

·Ensure the overall organization and functionality of SHLS according to established standards.

·Provide daily support to Facilitators.

·Serve as the main point of contact for the IRC and community members/parents.

·Ensure accurate record keeping at the SHLS

·Fill in observation sheets with the Facilitators at the end of each session on ECD /SHLS activities

·Assist the Child Protection Officer in compiling information for reporting purposes

Resource and SHLS space management:

·Ensure SHLS is cleaned in between sessions and prepare material for each session

·Report supply/material needs to the Child Protection Officer and support with completing purchase requests

·Maintain open and professional relations with team members, promoting a strong team spirit and providing feedback on performance and support needs to the Child Protection Officer.

Professional Standards

·All IRC staff are required to adhere to THE IRC Way Standards for Professional Conduct and the IRC country employment policies.

Other

·Consistently and proactively monitor/assess the safety and security situation while you’re in the field; promptly reporting concerns or incidents to IRC management and liaising with community leaders and other external parties as required to maintain/enhance the security environment for IRC programs

·Actively engage in all capacity building opportunities including formal trainings, on the job coaching and peer to peer sessions.

·Other duties as assigned by the supervisor to enable and develop IRC programs

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIREMENTS:

·Previous experience working with children, in social work, leading children activities, or community outreach preffered

·Demonstrated understanding of working with children and particularly vulnerable children

·Personal qualities: Team player, flexible, strong communication skills with children and caregivers, analytical skills, network-builder, able to handle pressure well and work in cross-cultural setting.

·Fluency in spoken and written Arabic required, knowledge of Kurdish preferred

WORK ENVIRNOMENT:

Position will be based in Ein Issa Camp supporting the Child Protection Team.
