ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

The incumbent of the position will work with the Generator Technicians currently on board under different contracts.  The incumbent will also be required to undertake field trips to the various field locations to support on the repair of generators as and when required.

FUNCTIONAL STATEMENT

Accountability

- The operation has uninterrupted power supply in all the locations.
- The generators required are purchased based on the full assessment on the power supply need for the concerned offices.
- The spare parts for the generators and other electrical equipment are made available whenever required. from the stock that are planned for and purchased in advance.

Responsibility

- Assess power, electro-mechanical and electrical requirements and make recommendations.
- Determine electrical materials required for site electrification.
- Perform power generators, electro-mechanical equipment and electrical wiring and installations in compliance with NEC and IEC standards and manufacturer recommendation.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair generators, electro-mechanical equipment and electrical wiring problems.
- Install and maintain air conditioners, site perimeter lights as well as offices and accommodation electrification in compliance with NEC and IEC standards.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance of all electrical and electro-mechanical installations.

Authority

- Make recommendation to the Supply Unit the correct capacity of generator(s) to be procured to supply power based on the power consumption of the location (s).

ESSENTIAL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

- Completion of Secondary education or equivalent technical school with Vocational or Technical certificate/Training in Electrical, mechanical or electromechanical engineering.
- Minimum (6) years of working experience with power generators, electro-mechanical equipment and electrical installations, maintenance and repair.
- Basic computer skills.
- Knowledge of English.
