DRR Supervisor (m/f/d) - National position

Malteser International (MI) is working in Myanmar since 2001, Malteser International currently employs more than 350 national staff in Rakhine, Shan and Kayin states, where our work aims at ensuring communities have access to primary health care services. We also offer comprehensive WASH and disaster risk reduction/climate change adaptation solutions, and provide relief after disasters. MI strives to enable and empower the most vulnerable communities in marginalized areas through a participatory and sustainable approach.


 

 

 
In support of our work in Kayin State, Myanmar, Malteser International is looking for a motivated DRR Supervisor (m/f/d) - National position.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the formation of community based disaster risk management (CBDRM) committees. Strengthen the capacity of CBDRM committees through regular trainings
  • Facilitate Community based Disability inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction (CBDiDRR) related activities of CBDRM committees like DRR awareness, preparedness, vulnerable groups, evacuation, early warning system and etc.
  • Mobilize the target communities in disaster risk assessments, preparedness, planning and implementation of DiCBDRR program
  • Ensure participation of the target group, local counterparts and partners to generate ownership
  • Work closely with Myanmar Independent Living Initiative (MILI) to enable people affected by disability to be influential in all aspects of the DiCBDRR program
  • Other duties as may have assigned by Line Manager

Qualifications:

  • University Degree in DRR, environmental sciences, social sciences or a related field certificates holder
  • At least 1 years experiences in DRR projects with UN or INGO or LNGO or CBO in a rural environment
  • Working Experiences on inclusive projects or persons with disability is an asset
  • Team player, excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills to deal with the local communities and authorities, able to work independently
  • Excellent command of national Myanmar, English language and Local Karen (Sagaw/Poe) dialect is an asset
  • Understands challenges faced by rural communities in relation to poor health and lack of knowledge

Conditions:

  • Start date: August 01st, 2019
  • Duty Station: Kayin State, Myanmar and its project areas
  • Duration of contract: 5 months (extendable) due to donor approval
  • Salary according to qualification and experience: 14th Month Salary & Health Insurance
