Job Description

Are you a technician looking for a challenging professional experience to further your career?  If so, joining CERN’s TTE programme may very well give you that challenge.  This position as a IT technician is part of our prestigious TTE programme. 

The Infrastructure section in the Control group of the Beam Department (BE-CO-IN) is in charge, of the specification, procurement, administration and support of the CERN Accelerator computing infrastructure. Among others, it provides support for the procurement, licensing, installation and configuration of the CO Enterprise integrated development tools. Relying specifically on ATLASSIAN toolchain, BE-CO-IN aims at unifying its developments, automating and monitoring all steps of the software construction (integration, testing and deployment) as well as documentation creation and sharing and for issues tracking.

Functions

This job shall cover essentially the support and maintenance of our DevOps toolchain (JIRA, Confluence, etc.), licensing, installation, configuration and seamless integration with the IT centralized services (E-mail, GIT, Database, etc.). This activity covers also developments (Web portal, scripts, etc.) to customize our tools and workflows and finally, the user support: creation of new spaces in WIKI and JIRA, access permission, bug fixes and maintenance of dedicated interfaces with the IT Help Desk Ticketing solution.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for a place on the programme you will need to meet the following requirements:

• You are a national of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State (https://home.cern/about/member-states);
• You have a Technical Diploma in mechanical engineering or in industrial design of mechanical components (careers.cern/ttediplomas), and no more than 4 years' relevant experience after finishing your diploma;
• If you are currently studying, you are still eligible to apply, although you are expected to have obtained your qualification by the start of your appointment at CERN;
• If you hold a BSc or MSc, you are not eligible. However you may be eligible for the Fellowship Programme.

You should have at least a working knowledge of English or French.

Additional Information

• An employment contract of one year, renewable for a second year;

• A take home pay of approximately 3,540 CHF per month (net of tax);

• Depending on your individual circumstances: an installation grant, family, child and infant allowances as well as travel expenses to and from Geneva;
• 2,5 days of paid leave per month.
