The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the world’s largest standby rosters -NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours notice when a crisis occurs

Established in 2012 NRC Jordan’s long-term outlook addresses the problems affecting life as a refugee. We work to build the resilience of Syrians, and to relieve the impact on the Jordanian communities that host them.Syrian refugees in Jordan are struggling. As they contend with difficult living conditions across the country, the obstacles are complex. They struggle to remain registered as refugees, to provide for their families, and to access essential services – including education for their children. The Jordanian communities that host them, meanwhile, feel the impact of hosting high numbers of refugees – with each year that passes, local infrastructure becomes more strained.

Role Specific Information

As a humanitarian organisation working in a challenging operational environment it is of great importance to work in compliance with governmental rules and regulations, donor requirements as well as NRC own values rules and regulations in order for NRC to maintain its position as a trustworthy partner for all external stakeholders. The present position plays a significant part in assessing and qualifying procedures and systems that include compliance checks, following up on complaints and participation in investigations. The position reports directly to the Quality & Compliance Coordinator and focuses on all NRC Jordan activities (Programme and Support) with a primary emphasis on internal audit standards in line with NRC’s internal audit methodologies. The scope of work for the role will be primarily determined by individual tasks and internal projects assigned by the Quality & Compliance Coordinator.   

Generic responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines.
  • Implement delegated support function portfolio according to plan of action.
  • Prepare and develop status reports as required by management.
  • Ensure proper filing of documents.
  • Promote and share ideas for improvement of the support function.
  • Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards & principles within NRC and amongst beneficiaries served by NRC. 

Specific responsibilities:


  •  With the guidance of the Quality & Accountability Coordinator, conduct a semiannual Corruption Risk Map and ensure all mitigations are being followed.
  • Support continuous improvement of operational standards.
  • Support the Quality & Accountability Technical Coordinator with Value for Money projects. 
  • Support in internal investigations.
  • Support in the investigation of complaints, allegations of suspected fraud or misconduct
  • Conduct trainings and/or workshops on topics of internal control, fraud detection and reporting, investigation, quality control, process improvement and managing external audits while contributing to the development of training materials and resources. 

Our Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for a university graduate in (Industrial engineering, business and similar) degree with a minimum of two years previous experience in  working as an auditor, compliance, process improvement role, preferably including experience in an internal audit function and in the NGO sector. Experience working in complex and volatile contexts,  Experience in system's quality and trainings in a humanitarian/recovery context. Solid knowledge of relevant legislative frameworks in Jordan. experience in Quality assessments, executing quality deployment projects. Systematic mind-set, attention to detail and capability of structuring a large amount of information in an easy accessible way. to have good English Level. 

We are particularly looking for a positive individual with strong communication skills, who can build trust and confidently navigate both internally and externally at different levels.
