Contract Type & Duration

Fixed-Term Appointment for 3 years (applies to internal candidates on Fixed-Term contract only). However, Ex Emergency Staff who were considered as internal candidates, if recommended for the post, they will be offered Limited Duration Contract. UNRWA’s human development goals

How can you make a difference? 

You will be joining a team of around 4,000 staff in the West Bank Field Office working to foster the human development of some 800,000 registered Palestine refugees.  

Supervisor and Technical Guidance:

The incumbent is responsible to the Deputy Chief, Field Health Program (D/CFHP).

The main responsibilities include:

In accordance with established Agency policy and procedures, the  incumbent:

•         Undertakes periodic and regular supervisory visits to the health Centers to ensure that the work of nursing staff and the work environment are according to technical instructions and approved strategies and in line with the family Health Team approach;

•         Directs, administers, manages and guides the nursing staff: evaluate the achievements of the relevant Agency objectives; provides technical guidance for nursing staff and ensures the proper implementations of technical guidelines ;advises on and oversees the implementation of quality assurance system for nursing services in the health centers to maintain and improve the quality of work and to ansure that the work is in line with the family health team approach;

•         Coordinates with the Health Division Heads the formulation of plans and preparation of study protocols developed and carried out by the Health Department; develops and implements training plans for the nursing staff to reflect the capacity building aspects; supervises the planning, organizing and implementation of the in –service and on- the- job training for the nursing staff; supervises the orientation and training program for newly recruited nursing staff.

•         Advises the D/CFHP on all nursing matters; identifies the requirements of nursing services including medical instruments, furniture and other materials; analyzes bids, controls and manages the nursing budget; carries out technical evaluation of received supplies, advises on changes in the specifications and follows up on their distribution; carries out periodic inventory and stock checking in coordination with the heads of health Centers and Senior Staff Nurses;

•         Checks, verifies and analyses statistical health data and reports related to nursing activities received from the Health Centers and ensures maintenance and completeness of health Center records.

•         Participates in conducting researches and studies interacts with national practice leaders to promote consistency and best practices of primary health care services;

•         Performs such other duties as May assigned.

Conditions of service 

Monthly basic salary JD 1877.04,  plus an allowance of 1000 NIS payable in JD at UNRWA rate, Other benefits include monthly Provident Fund contribution (15% of basic salary paid by the Agency), compulsory medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave, and dependency allowance (if applicable).

To qualify for this position, you will need:

Education

•         A university degree in Nursing

•         A valid license to practice nursing in the country of duty station ( where applicable)

Work

experience

At least six years’ experience in nursing profession of which three years should have been at a supervisory level.

Language(s)

Excellent command of written and spoken English and Arabic.

Desirable qualifications:

•         Advanced university degree in nursing or Public Health or other related discipline;

•         Knowledge of epidemiological computer applications.

Additional Information:

•      The incumbent is required to travel frequently in the assigned filed of operation.

•      Possession of a valid driving licenses.

•         Supervisory skills and ability to organize and implement training programmes  and to develop staff;

•         Excellent analytical skills;

•         Proficiency in UNRWA standard computer applications;

•         Ability to work under pressure and cope with heavy workload.
