Advisor: Fundraising Investment Management (f/m)

Location: Vienna, Austria

SOS Children’s Villages International is the umbrella organisation for the global federation of SOS Children’s Villages. As a non-governmental social development organisation we help children without parental care and families in difficult living conditions through services in care, education, health and emergency relief, and we advocate for children’s rights. We work in 136 countries and territories, reaching over one million children, young people, families and caregivers each year.

Mission

In the Fund Development – Strategy & Analysis team we develop an investment strategy together with the Fund Development & Communications (FDC) directors of the International Office Region (IOR), to optimise the income for the federation as well as diversify income sources. Furthermore, we manage the implementation and monitoring of the Impact Fund for Children and develop alternative funding mechanisms via internal and external funding sources.

The incumbent will manage and develop the investments fund together with other stakeholders involved and be responsible for the implementation of the fund.

Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Develop an investment strategy together with IOR FDC directors and investors based on regional investment plans and investment potentials within and outside the federation to optimise income and diversify income sources and markets for the federation
  • Develop new funding mechanisms and strategies to drive fundraising investments e.g. loans, impact investments, blended finance (internal but also external financing sources)
  • Manage the implementation of the investment strategy via funding cycles including reviewing of applications, monitoring and reporting rounds
  • Further improve the investment fund cycles and processes (assessment, timeline, alignment, responsibilities, contracts, monitoring)
  • Guide IOR and MA (member association) key staff in the implementation of the investment fund
  • Anchor the investment fund with relevant federation processes
Requirements
  • Advanced university degree in marketing, analysis, statistic, economics or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience within fundraising, fundraising income streams, channels and campaigns, including digital
  • Extensive experience with strategy development and project management with multi stakeholders in a multicultural work environment
  • Experience with developing systems and processes to facilitate effective performance management 
  • Expertise in and knowledge of fundraising in a variety of markets, including emerging markets
  • Sound understanding of fundraising methodologies, channels (especially on individual giving, major donor and corporate fundraising level)
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship building skills across cultures
  • Excellent analytical skills and experience of assessing funding performance across a broad range of income streams  
  • Strong problem solving and strategic thinking skills with experience of and an aptitude for strategic planning 
  • Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to analyse diverse funding strategies and plans  
  • Excellent command of English, other European languages (Spanish, German, French) would be an advantage
  • Applicants must hold a valid Austrian working permit or be eligible to work within the EU
