Job Description

Under the supervision of the Protection and Inclusion Specialist, and in coordination with the Health Team and other IRC staff as required, the Protection & Inclusion officer will support the implementation of protection mainstreaming work undertaken with Access 2 Health partners, as well as protection mainstreaming work with civil society partners in Northern Shan and other internal and external stakeholders as required. This will include assisting in the development of protection mainstreaming capacity strengthening plans through participatory exercises, and assisting in the delivery of workshops and trainings designed to support both the formation and implementation of protection mainstreaming capacity development for identified stakeholders.

Major Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Protection and Inclusion Specialist, the Protection & Inclusion Officer will be responsible for:

  • Promoting partner relationships based on principles of mutual trust and respect, mutual accountability, exchange, inclusion and transparency, to ensure the genuine buy-in and strong motivation of partners and other stakeholders engaged in the process.
  • Strengthening adherence to protection mainstreaming principles throughout all protection mainstreaming activities.
  • Supporting the Protection & Inclusion Specialist in constructive capacity building with internal and external stakeholders engaged in protection mainstreaming.
  • Organizing trainings/meetings and workshops on protection mainstreaming activities for partners, internal and external stakeholders.
  • Developing and implementing training plans for partners to build capacity in priority areas linked to protection mainstreaming, in a participatory manner.
  • Undertaking regular monitoring and evaluation of activities to assess progress, identify issues, collect information, and document lessons learned.
  • Supporting development of effective training materials to support protection mainstreaming and adherence to key protection principles, in line with IRC technical best practice and standards and with reference to the Global Protection Cluster Toolkit.
  • Supporting monitoring of relevant expenditures to ensure that all spending is in line with approved spending plans and timelines.
  • Working closely with IRC operations staff to ensure timely and compliant program implementation and expenditures.
  • Ensuring all activities are carried out in accordance with IRC policies and procedures.
  • Conducting other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in Social Science, Public Health, Humanities or related field.2-3 years of experience in community based projects, humanitarian and protection work, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience and capacity in conducting capacity building, training facilitating skills and maintaining partner relationships.
  • Strong ability to work independently, organize work, meet deadlines, maintain composure, prioritize work under pressure, coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility.
  • Personal qualities: Works well in and promotes teamwork, comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible and able to handle pressure well, approachable demeanor and ability to stay positive throughout daily client interactions in person and on the phone.
  • Familiarity with basic IT systems, and IT systems to support data management and analysis.
  • INGO experience preferred, or experience interacting with vulnerable populations.

Work environment:

Predominately office based in Yangon, with regular travel to various field locations to support partner engagement and capacity building needs.

Language Skills:Good command of English (written and spoken) essential.Fluency in both Myanmar language and one or more local languages of Rakhine/Kayah/Shan States is strongly desired.

Myanmar nationals with relevant skills sets and proven experience of working at international level are strongly encouraged.
