How can you make a difference? 

You will be joining a team of around 3000 staff in the Lebanon Field Office working to foster the human development of registered Palestine refugees.••

The main responsibilities include:

•         Undertakes regular visits to UNRWA health centers according to a rotating schedule in order to examine, treat and follow up on patients referred to him/her by medical officers;

•         Maintains records of all patients with cardiovascular diseases at each health center and provides statistical data and relevant information on such patients to the Field Office;

•         Plans and directs the in-service training of medical officers on the prevention and control of cardiovascular diseases;

•         Maintains an effective system of referral to, and feed-back from, contracted and government hospitals treating refugee patients;

•         Follows up to ensure that equipment and supplies are maintained and techniques are performed in accordance with standard Agency procedures;

•         Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

Conditions of service•

Option One: Fixed Term Appointment, Level 08

Monthly basic salary L.L •3,227,510

Other benefits include monthly Provident Fund contribution (15% of basic salary paid by the Agency), compulsory medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave, and dependency allowance (if applicable).

Option Two: Limited Duration Contract (LDC- Band G)

Monthly basic salary L.L 3,153,170 – 6,130,790 depending on the professional knowledge and experience.

Other benefits include compulsory medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave pre-rated to the duration of the contract where less than one year, and family allowance (if applicable).

To qualify for this position, you will need:

Education

A university degree in medicine from a recognized university including an internship of at least twelve-month duration;

Advanced degree in cardiology or internal medicine specialty;;

A valid license to practice medicine as internist or cardiologist in the country of duty station (where applicable).

Work

experience

A minimum of six years' experience in management of cardiovascular diseases after obtaining the degree in this discipline.

Language(s)

Excellent command of spoken and written English and Arabic.

You will also need to demonstrate the following competencies:

•         Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others in a team environment and with people of diverse backgrounds, culture and nationalities;

•         Strong personality, tactfulness, patience and dedication;

•         Demonstrated ability to organize and implement training programmes and to develop staff;

•         Ability to work under pressure and cope with heavy workload.

Additional Information :

•         The incumbent is required to travel frequently in the field and area of operations;

•         Possession of a valid driving license in the country of duty station
