Organizational Setting
The main aim of the FAO country offices, which are headed by an FAO Representative, is to assist governments to develop policies, programs and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to help develop the agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors, and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner.
Main Purpose
The Field Programme Assistant performs a wide range of routine operational, administrative, and financial functions in support of the formulation, delivery, monitoring and reporting of the Organization's field programme and projects being developed and implemented in the country, throughout the Project Cycle.
The Field Programme Assistant reports to a professional staff member and receives guidance from a higher graded Field Programme Assistant FAOR. He/she acts independently in routine matters. Supervision received is focused on the quality of the work performed and provides for on-the-job learning.
The Field Programme Assistant interacts with a wide variety of colleagues within the office providing routine operational support, including related administrative and financial services.
• In line with the revised Project Cycle, help ensure data concerning the office's field programme portfolio is up-to-date in the Field Programme Management Information System (FPMIS), with relevant project documentation uploaded as appropriate;
• Collect and compile data from FPMIS on programme/project activities to support reporting on field programme/project delivery;
• Assist in drafting initial project budgets, revisions and amendments, and inputting the data into FPMIS; provide information on programme/project expenditures and status of field programme/project budgets;
• Process, format and proof-read project/programme reports, documents, publications and correspondence from draft texts, related to the field programme;
• Make arrangements for field programme-related meetings, seminars and events\: implement logistics, prepare correspondence, compile and distribute documents, make administrative arrangements;
• Initiate and follow up on administrative and financial actions related to field programme/project staff/NHSR recruitment, management and support; travel; payments; and procurement;
• Review and direct correspondence, calls and queries to appropriate contacts; provide background information; respond to routine enquiries;
• Perform other duties as required.

Education\: Secondary School Education
Experience\: Three years of relevant experience in financial and/or administrative support work.
Languages\: Working knowledge (Level C) of Spanish and limited knowledge (Level B) of English
IT Skills\: Good knowledge of the MS Office applications, Internet and office technology equipment
