Objectives of the programme
The Reproductive Maternal, New Born and Child Health experts provide technical support to the Family and Reproductive Health Cluster on reproductive, maternal, new-born and child health issues, approaches, methods and tools to improve the reproductive, maternal, new-born and child health status of the population, especially in vulnerable groups, as defined in the context of the WHO Comprehensive Implementation Plan (CIP) on maternal, infant and young child nutrition and the Global Strategy on Women's, Children's and Adolescent health 2020..
Areas of expertise

The RMNCH Consultantsâ areas of expertise being sought include\:
·Reproductive Maternal, New Born and Child Health programme reviews
·Development of RMNCH national strategic plans
·Capacity building on key MNH guidelines and recommendations
·RMNCH Research and documentation
·IMCI Health Facility Survey
·MNCH Quality of Care assessment
·IMCI adaptation using ICATT and Capacity Building
·Nurturing Care for Early Childhood Development - Capacity Building, Adaptation and integration within existing guidelines and job aids
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Essential\:
Experts (P4-P5)\: Mastersâ level university degree in Medicine, Public Health, Community Health, Health Services Planning and Management, Social Sciences, Public Policy, Health Economics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Midwifery, Nutrition) or equivalent discipline.
Specialists (P2 - P3)\: First University Degree in the relevant field

Desirable\:Any additional education or training in the relevant field would be an asset.
Experience
Essential\:
Experts\: At least 7-10 yearsâ experience in Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health or related field.
Specialists\: At least 5 yearsâ experience in Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health or related field.
Desirable\:Any additional experience related to the field would be an asset in undertaking the duties
Languages\:
Essential\:Expert knowledge of English or French
Desirable\:Knowledge of Portuguese would be an asset
Other Skills\:
Excellent knowledge of MS Office applications and computer skills including the ability to make high quality technical presentations and data analysis.

The purpose of this VN is to invite qualified professionals with relevant expertise for P2/P3/P4/P5 grades for inclusion in a roster of experts for possible short-term assignments which may arise from time to time at the WHO Regional Office for Africa.
The grade of the position will be fixed based on the level of responsibilities and complexity of tasks assigned as reflected in the terms of reference.
