Objectives of the programme
The Adolescence Health Experts provide technical support to Family and Reproductive Health Cluster in the development of plans of action for scaling up adolescent health interventions as defined in global and regional strategies including the Global Strategy on Womenâs, Childrenâs and Adolescent health 2016.
Areas of expertise

The Adolescent Health Consultantsâ areas of expertise being sought include\:
·Acceleration of the implementation of the of adolescent health flagship program in priority countries
·Development of national policy on adolescent and youth health
·Development of adolescent and youth health implementation plan using the AA-HA Guidance
·Mid-term or final review of the implementation of adolescent health plan.
·Development of national standards for quality of health-care services for adolescents
·Assessment of adolescent health interventions in the context of the integration with Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccination.
·Country assessment of barriers to adolescent health services and identification of adolescent subpopulations that are being left behind.
·Development of on adolescent and youth health training module
·Development of advocacy materials on adolescent and youth health
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Essential\:
Experts (P4-P5)\: Mastersâ level university degree in Public Health, Community Health, Health Services Planning and Management, Social Sciences, Health Economics, Demography, Communication, Public Policy or equivalent discipline.
Specialists (P2 - P3)\: First University Degree in the relevant field

Desirable\:Any additional education or training in the relevant field would be an asset.
Experience
Essential\:
Experts\: At least 7-10 yearsâ experience in in child and adolescence health or related fields.
Specialists\: At least 5 yearsâ experience in in child and adolescence health or related fields.
Desirable\:Any additional experience related to the field would be an asset in undertaking the duties
Languages\:
Essential\:Expert knowledge of English or French
Desirable\:Knowledge of Portuguese would be an asset
Other Skills\:
Excellent knowledge of MS Office applications and computer skills including the ability to make high quality technical presentations and data analysis.

The purpose of this VN is to invite qualified professionals with relevant expertise for P2/P3/P4/P5 grades for inclusion in a roster of experts for possible short-term assignments which may arise from time to time at the WHO Regional Office for Africa.
The grade of the position will be fixed based on the level of responsibilities and complexity of tasks assigned as reflected in the terms of reference.
