Trauma counselling and fundraising Internship at I Live Again Uganda in Gulu, Northern Uganda focusing on Refugees from South Sudan and their Host communities.

 

 

 

I Live Again Uganda (ILA) is a not for profit organization founded in 2008 with registration number 10020 and has been working in Northern Uganda since then implementing activities of Trauma counselling, Discipleship, Resettlement and Community Development to restore hope among war survivors using the holistic approach. In doing so, ILA helps war survivors live a life of purpose.

 

Duties and responsibilities during internship includes:

 

 

 

·      Conducting research on fundraising prospects and grant opportunities;

 

·      Drafting grant proposals for foundation and other donor grants;

 

·      Carrying out online fundraising campaigns through social media and other funding sites;

 

·      Supporting ILA’s communication strategy through documentation, photo, video, website/blog updates, and engagement of different donors or donor foundations

 

·      If a candidate has particular skills (eg psychology, Leadership training, etc.), ILA would be very happy to develop a placement making maximum use of these skills and interests;

 

 

 

Requirements:

 

This Internship is mainly aimed at graduate students and/or professionals with a background in Psychology, conflict management, peace studies or international development, with a flair for social media and fundraising. Key competencies:

 

·      Degree in international development, psychology, peace studies or a related field;

 

·      Knowledge of sustainable development and trauma counselling is an added advantage;

 

·      Good cross-cultural communication skills;

 

·      Good writing and research skills;

 

·      Skills and experience in grant writing especially for grants from the USA, Europe;

 

·      Web design/update and multi-media skills is a plus, including blogging and social media marketing;

 

·      Knowledge of Northern Uganda and South Sudan a plus;

 

·      Previous volunteer experience in developing or post-conflict context a plus.

 

 

 

The internship is unpaid (interns from abroad will be expected to cover their own flights and living costs), but provides excellent field experience in a post-conflict setting in Africa.

 

The Program Director will provide close mentoring and professional development support.

 

 

 

Duration for Internship: 4 -6 months starting:  June 2019. However, alternative proposals (including different start dates or altered duration) may be considered for exceptional candidates.
