In Americas, Norwegian Red Cross work in collaboration with Red Cross Red Crescent Movement to relieve the suffering and save the lives of people affected by armed conflict, protracted crisis and acute disasters. Norwegian Red Cross supports access to health care and improvement of community health in insecure urban contexts and people affected by hurricanes and other disasters. 
 
The purpose of the Regional representative is to achieve the humanitarian objectives in Norwegian Red Cross’ international strategy through strategic leadership of the regional team and resources, and purposeful external relations. 
 
The strategic responsibilities of the Regional representative are to: 
  • Secure implementation of the international strategy in the region, by establishing and following up strategic direction through regional and country frameworks 
  • Ensure efficient leadership and promote optimal use of resources by ensuring purposeful collaboration within the regional team, with other regions, and with the National office.  
  • Oversee strategic relationship management with Red Cross Red Crescent Movement, donors and external partners.

Education:  
  • Higher education at master level within relevant field  
 
Experience with:  
  • Successful humanitarian management experience. 
  • Analytical skills and proven ability to solve complex humanitarian challenges.  
  • Experience from implementing humanitarian projects at field level. 
  • Thorough understanding of the humanitarian landscape. 
  • Excellent drafting skills. Proven track-record of successful donor applications an asset. 
  • Technical expertise in Health or WASH an asset. 
 
Other skills:   
  • Fluency in Spanish and English.  
 
Reporting to:   
  • Head of International Programmes 
 
Position is based in: 
  • Panama City, Panama (TBC) 
 
Contract:  
  • 24 months, possible with extension
