Team Leader for Finance & Controlling (f/m)

Location: International Office, Innsbruck

SOS Children’s Villages International is the umbrella organisation for the global federation of SOS Children’s Villages. As a non-governmental social development organisation we help children without parental care and families in difficult living conditions through services in care, education, health and emergency relief, and we advocate for children’s rights. We work in 135 countries and territories, reaching over one million children, young people, families and caregivers each year.

Mission

The Mission of Finance & Controlling is to enable transparency, accountability as well as the efficient and proper use of funds in the Federation. We provide services to Member Associations especially policies, tools, consulting, training and monitoring and coordinate the allocation of programmes to funding partners and coordinate and execute the flow of funds between these funding partners. Additionally, we manage financial risks of the Federation on an on-going basis, focusing on accountability in the use of resources and sustainability in the federation-wide funding model. Furthermore, we provide information relevant to management and legal bodies for controlling and decision-making and see our role as an integral part of the Federation and act as financial business advisors while ensuring fiduciary compliance.

In this setting the incumbent will lead the accounting and controlling activities of SOS Children’s Villages International (CVI).

Tasks and Responsibilities

Day-to-day accounting and internal controls

  • Lead accounting team in day-to-day accounting activities for SOS CVI Austria locations
  • Coordinate intercompany activities within SOS CVI among Austrian office and regional offices
  • Ensure all offices perform accounting activities on a timely and accurate manner as a basis for regular controlling activities
  • Ensure appropriate internal financial controls are implemented

Annual financial reporting

  • Lead the preparation of financial data for SOS CVI Austria offices for the annual external financial audit
  • Lead the preparation of the SOS CVI consolidated global financial statement

GSC (General Secretariat) financial planning & budgeting

  • Lead the preparation of the financial aspects of the GSC´s mid-term plan, annual budget and mid-year forecasts

GSC reporting and controlling

  • Lead the preparation, analysis and review of regular financial reports with regards to the financial development of the GSC
Requirements

Essential

  • Master’s degree in finance/ business administration, preferably in the field of accounting or controlling or Bachelor´s degree with additional relevant work experience
  • Minimum 10 years of accounting and/or controlling experience with gradually increasing levels of responsibility
  • Minimum 3 years of experience of formally leading teams in a finance manager (or equivalent) position
  • Strong understanding of Austrian statutory accounting requirements and of IFRS accounting guidelines
  • Strong consolidation experience
  • Good knowledge of Finance-related IT systems and other related IT systems (mostly XLS)
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent command of English, good working language skills in German
  • Applicants must hold a valid Austrian working permit or be eligible to work within the EU

Desirable

  • Sound ability to work in a multinational / multicultural environment
  • Previous experience with Microsoft Navision, Microsoft Dynamics 365 (Finance Module) or similar ERP systems
