1.     Organizational Context

 

a.        Organizational Setting

 

The post is located in the Functional Development Section of the Madrid Operations Division.

 

b.        Purpose Statement

 

The Madrid Operations Division is responsible for receiving, processing and registering international trademark applications and associated data.

c.        Reporting Lines

 

The incumbent works under the supervision of the Head, Functional Development Section.

 

 

2.     Duties and Responsibilities

 

The incumbent will perform the following principal duties\:

 

(a)     Identifies, corrects and duly documents electronic data loading errors, provides feedback to application software owners, ensuring that all incoming files are processed within 24 hours.

 

(b)     Participates in defining technical solutions and in the overall evolution of the system, testing system improvements and managing test data.

 

(c)     Based upon agreed procedures, identifies, registers and categorises Production and other operational incidents. Gathers information to enable incident resolution and promptly redirects incidents as appropriate.

 

(d)     Carries out agreed production and other operational technical procedures of a routine nature.

 

(e)     Develop cooperation with stakeholders to improve the overall functioning of the electronic exchange; analyze the available information related to the processing of XML data and liaise with Offices to solve issues.

 

(f)     Manage the publication process for Madrid notifications and Gazette and ensure that the weekly publication is issued without delay.

 

(g)     Manage the process that send email and notification letters to applicants and Offices.

 

(h)     Provide statistics about incoming and outgoing data.

 

(i)      Work in collaboration with the Document Processing Unit and provide guidance and assist to ensure consistency in processing documents, including in common format for files.

 

(j)      Perform other related tasks, as necessary.

 

 

3.     Requirements

 

Education

Essential

Complete secondary education.

 

Desirable

First-level university degree.

 

Experience

Essential

At least eight years of relevant professional experience in the area of operating IT systems, including electronic data management system, and in the field of image processing.

 

At least four years of relevant experience in production and user support in a technical environment as well as testing new IT systems.

 

Language

Essential

Excellent knowledge of English.

 

Desirable

Knowledge of other UN languages.

5.      Information

 

Mobility\:  WIPO staff members are international civil servants subject to the authority of the Director General and may be assigned to any activities of the Organization. Accordingly, the selected candidate may be required to move from time to time to new functions.

 

Annual salary (Net of tax)\:  82,234 CHF

Additional Information

 

Initial period of one year, renewable, subject to satisfactory performance.  No fixed-term appointment or any extension hereof shall carry with it any expectancy of, nor imply any right to, (further) extensions or conversion to a permanent appointment.

 

Dependency allowances

7,939 CHF per year for dependent spouse;  6,398 CHF per year for each dependent child.

 

Language allowance

Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish\: 4,788 CHF per year for two of these languages, and 3,192 CHF per year for one of them.  The allowance is not payable for the mother tongue or the main working language of the staff member.  The grant of this allowance is subject to examination.

 

General Service posts are generally subject to local recruitment.  However, a limited international recruitment package may be applicable.
